Connecting via OAuth

Connecting via OAuth

MatchLogic integrates with popular cloud file services through OAuth authentication, allowing you to import files directly from your Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive accounts without downloading them to your computer first.

Supported Providers

  • Google Drive — Access files stored in your personal or shared Google Drive.
  • Dropbox — Browse and import files from your Dropbox account.
  • OneDrive — Connect to your Microsoft OneDrive or OneDrive for Business account.

How to Connect

  1. On the Data Import page, select the OAuth connector type.
  2. Click the button for the provider you want to use (Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive).
  3. You will be redirected to the provider's authentication page in a new window or tab.
  4. Sign in to your account (if not already signed in) and grant MatchLogic access to read your files. MatchLogic only requests the permissions necessary to list and read files.
  5. After granting access, you will be redirected back to MatchLogic automatically.
  6. The connected account's email address will be displayed, confirming a successful connection.
  7. Use the file browser to navigate your files and folders and select the file to import.

Browsing and Selecting Files

Once connected, MatchLogic displays a file browser showing your cloud files and folders. Navigate through the directory tree to find your file. Only files in supported formats (CSV, XLSX, XLS) are selectable for import. After selecting a file, the workflow continues with column mapping just like any other import method.

For more details on using the file browser, see #browsing-remote-files.

Session Expiration

OAuth access tokens have a limited lifespan. If your session expires while you are still working, MatchLogic will display an alert banner indicating that re-authentication is required. To continue:

  1. Click the re-authentication link in the alert banner.
  2. You will be redirected to the provider's login page again.
  3. Grant access once more and return to MatchLogic.

Important

Session expiration timelines vary by provider. Google Drive tokens typically last about one hour, while Dropbox and OneDrive may have different durations. If you are importing a large file, start the import promptly after connecting to avoid interruptions.

Permissions and Privacy

MatchLogic requests the minimum permissions needed to browse your file list and read selected files. It does not modify, delete, or share your files. The connection is used only for the current import session. If you want to revoke access later, you can do so from your provider's security settings:

  • Google: Visit your Google Account's Third-party apps page.
  • Dropbox: Visit Settings, then Connected Apps in your Dropbox account.
  • OneDrive: Visit the Microsoft Account privacy dashboard.

Tip

If you frequently import from the same cloud provider, keep that account signed in on your browser. This streamlines the OAuth flow so you only need to click "Allow" rather than entering your full credentials each time.
