Single Datasource Auto-Configuration
Single Datasource Auto-Configuration
When your project contains only one imported datasource, MatchLogic simplifies the match configuration process by automatically setting up the configuration for you.
How It Works
If you navigate to the Match Configuration page with only one datasource in your project, MatchLogic recognizes that there is only one possible comparison: the datasource against itself. In this case, the platform automatically creates a within-file match configuration — a self-pair that compares records inside that single datasource to find internal duplicates.
No manual setup is required. You do not need to:
- Select a matching strategy
- Configure datasource pairs
- Verify coverage
The configuration is created and saved for you.
Default Strategy
The matching strategy defaults to deduplication within the single source. This is the only meaningful strategy when there is one datasource — there are no other files to compare against, so cross-file matching does not apply.
What You Should Do
Simply proceed to the next step. Click Save & Continue (or navigate directly to the Match Definitions page) to begin defining your match criteria. See #what-are-match-definitions to learn how to set up your matching rules.
Tip
Single-datasource deduplication is the most common use case for data quality projects. MatchLogic streamlines this workflow so you can get to results faster without unnecessary configuration steps.
Adding More Datasources Later
If you later import additional datasources into the same project, you will need to return to the Match Configuration page to update your configuration. The auto-configuration only applies when exactly one datasource exists. With two or more datasources, you will need to select a strategy and configure pairs manually as described in https://help.matchlogic.io/article/250-selecting-a-matching-strategy and https://help.matchlogic.io/article/251-configuring-datasource-pairs.
Important
Adding a new datasource to an existing project may invalidate your current match configuration. Always review your pair settings after importing additional data.
