Managing Projects

As your work in MatchLogic evolves, you may need to rename projects to reflect their current purpose, update descriptions, or remove projects that are no longer needed. All project management actions are accessible from the project dashboard.

Editing a Project

To update an existing project's name or description:

  1. Locate the project on the dashboard, either in Card View or List View.
  2. Click the context menu (the three-dot icon) on the project card or at the end of the project row.
  3. Select Edit from the dropdown menu.
  4. A dialog will appear with the current project name and description pre-filled. Update the fields as needed.
  5. Click Save to apply your changes.

The project name must remain unique. If you enter a name that is already in use by another project, you will see a validation error.

Tip

Renaming a project does not affect any of its datasources, match configurations, results, or exports. All associated data remains intact.

Deleting a Project

If a project is no longer needed, you can permanently remove it:

  1. Click the context menu (three-dot icon) on the project you want to delete.
  2. Select Delete from the dropdown menu.
  3. A confirmation dialog will appear, warning you that this action is irreversible.
  4. Confirm the deletion to proceed.

Important

Deleting a project permanently removes all associated data, including imported datasources, profiling results, cleansing workflows, match configurations, match definitions, match results, merge and survivorship rules, and export settings. This action cannot be undone.

What Gets Deleted

When you delete a project, the following are removed from the system:

  • All datasources and their imported records
  • Data profiling analytics and statistics
  • Data cleansing workflows and transformation rules
  • Match configuration and definition settings
  • Match results (pairs, groups, and quality reports)
  • Merge and survivorship rules
  • Export settings and any generated export files
  • Background job history associated with the project

Best Practices for Project Management

  • Use meaningful names — Include the dataset name, date range, or purpose in the project name so it is easy to identify later.
  • Update descriptions — As a project's scope changes, keep the description current. Descriptions are searchable and help you find the right project quickly.
  • Archive before deleting — If you think you might need the results later, use Final Export to save the output before deleting the project. Once deleted, the data cannot be recovered.
  • Clean up regularly — Remove test projects and experiments to keep your dashboard organized and easy to navigate.
